Study on premature aging and longevity on a
psycho-social approach.
Study on the interrelation between
psycho-socio-economic condition and the aging process.
Demografic aging proces and its medico-psycho-social and economic
consequences:
Study of Romanian demographic aging process:
origins, causes, processes,
- population estimations for interval 1995-2050,
-
problems of potential demography,
- aspects of territorial demographic
aging,</>
- demographic consequences,
- economical
consequences,
- social consequences,
- medical consequences,
- comparison between demographic aging process evolutions in countries
from Eastern and Western Europe.
- Study on sensorial defficiencies
and global functionality of affected aged people; methods of medical,
psychologic and social support for these people:
- Finding out
prevalent sensorial disorders of aged people;
- Finding out the degree
on which sensoriality disorders may affect global functionality of aged
people;
- Finding out the needs of medical & social interventions,
both curative and preventative, to support aged people who have visual and
auditive disorders (especially pointing on secondary and tertiary
prevention, as primary prevention limits basically to delaying disorders)
Aspects of health and functionality of nonprofessional people
caretakers for aged people
Epidemiological studies on transmissible diseases of aged
people (tuberculosis, epidemic hepatitis, etc.)
- Study of aspects of psycho-social adaptation within aging
process: third-age distress:
- most specifical events and situations
of this age;
- resources, capabilities and abilities to confront
stress sources (adaptative resources), specific strategies used in view to
reduce disadaptative consequences due to existential happenings;
-
adaptative consequences due to the confrontation to stress sources
(adaptative styles), disadaptative consequences (main factors that block or
disturb optimal adaptative processes, cognitive and emotional
distorsions);
- external resources of confrontation (social support as
moderator of disadaptative effects).
- Studies on the characteristics
of self-image and self-concept of aged people as an adjusting function to
prevent and alleviate negative consequences of aging process, and to
maximize the efficiency of psycho-social adaptation at second- and
third-age.
Analysis of medical and social assistance of aged
people in view to structure proper assistance programs.
Guide and technical support of gerontology and geriatry
activities in other institutions, regarding social gerontology, in
cooperation with Institute's clinical sections sections.
